Safety SwitchOne of the most singular electrical items installed in houses today that has reduced fatalities by electrocution in the “safety switch” also known as a “residual current device”.

How does the safety switch work:

The safety switch is designed to monitor the electrical current entering the circuit and the electrical current returning from the circuit.

If the current entering does not equal the current returning from the circuit and the difference reaches by a set amount the safety switch will operate removing the electrical supply from the circuit being monitored.

Owner testing of safety switches:

A function /mechanism test button exists on the safety switch. It is recommended that the test button be operated at least once a month in order to see if the safety switch mechanism operates.
